All Sonic Air Knife Systems are designed to deliver high velocity air to the surface of a product thereby creating enough shear force on the product to strip the liquid from the surface. However, products with absorbed moisture, products with obscure cavities or products that have a high water surface tension (certain plastics for example) require added air temperature to complete the drying cycle. Some products cannot be dried completely without the use of an in-line oven but, for those applications where a higher temperature air knife will do the job, Sonic can save you thousands of dollars in equipment and operating costs versus other methods. Because of the natural heat of compression produced by Sonic Blowers, the use of re-circulated air from a closed drying chamber through a filter/water separator and back to the blower inlet can produce sustained drying chamber temperatures of up to 175°F (79°C). All Sonic Blowers come with an optional water cooling jacket which actually allows inlet air temperatures reach to 400°F (204°C) if an additional heat source is available. Besides the added heat, re-circulation also reduces the demand on system exhaust air and the corresponding HVAC load in the plant.
