High Capacity Blower Filters

High-Capacity Blower Filters Made for High-Dust and High-Use Operations
Reliably filter dust, mold, bacteria, and any airborne particles as small as 2 microns.
The Sonic high-capacity 2-stage filter assembly is ideally suited to high dust and dirt environments where Sonic’s standard cartridge filter becomes loaded too quickly. To handle those hostile conditions, Sonic places the 2 micron cartridge filter (the 2nd stage) inside a filter box containing (2)panel filters (1st stage). This compact designed high-capacity 2-stage filter is rated up to 1,100 CFM (34 mᵌ/min) to allow Sonic blowers to operate with reduced filter service in hostile environments.
Powerful Filtration Built for Performance
Sonic Air Systems’ high-capacity blower filters are engineered for demanding industrial environments where airborne particulates can jeopardize the performance and lifespan of air-moving equipment. Using a dual-stage filtration process, the system first traps large debris and then captures finer particles before they can enter the blower intake. This layered approach helps maintain consistent airflow while protecting internal blower components. Ideal for sectors like manufacturing, packaging, food processing, and dust-heavy environments, these air blower filters contribute to smoother operations, reduced wear, and long-term system reliability.
Designed to Maximize the Effectiveness of Filters for Blowers
- Dual-Layer Defense System: Combines pre-filters and a fine-particle cartridge for multi-tiered protection. This design supports effective particulate separation without compromising airflow rates.
- Modular Construction: Each component of the filtration unit is replaceable and serviceable. This makes upkeep simple and lowers the total cost of ownership over time.
- Compact Mounting Profile: The housing is designed for tight mechanical spaces and existing blower systems. Installation requires minimal disruption to operational layouts.
- Industrial-Grade Housing: Durable metal enclosures resist damage from impact, corrosion, and harsh environmental conditions. This makes the high-capacity filter suitable for rugged plant settings.
- Reduces Maintenance Downtime: Cleaner airflow means less dust accumulation inside the system. As a result, cleaning and service intervals are spaced further apart.
- Prolongs Blower Life: By reducing the intake of harmful particles, these filters for blowers lower wear on internal blower parts. This helps maintain mechanical integrity and delays replacement needs.
- Improves Workplace Cleanliness: A well-filtered blower system helps reduce ambient dust recirculation and promotes better air quality around production zones.
- Protects Downstream Equipment: With cleaner blower output, machinery connected to the system avoids secondary contamination, which translates to more reliable system-wide performance.
How to Select the Right Industrial Diverter Valve
Determining the best valve for your system depends on balancing air volume, pressure, and material characteristics. When these factors align, you achieve smoother performance, higher efficiency, and long-term reliability. The ideal configuration not only maintains consistent airflow and minimizes pressure loss but also enhances energy efficiency across continuous production cycles.
Common Types of Diverter Valves
- Flap Type Diverter: Simple, cost-effective valve ideal for low- to medium-pressure systems handling powders, pellets, or airflows requiring gentle redirection.
- Plug (Rotor) Diverter: Designed for continuous-duty applications, offering smooth switching between lines with minimal leakage.
Slide or Slideflex Diverter: Provides fast, tight-sealing transitions for high-pressure or high-temperature processes where precision airflow management is essential.
Key Technical Considerations
When specifying an industrial air diverter valve, consider the following engineering factors to ensure long-term reliability:
- Material Compatibility: Choose materials suited to your process—aluminum for lightweight efficiency, stainless steel for hygienic or corrosive environments, or coated alloys for chemical resistance.
- Actuation & Automation: Sonic offers manual, pneumatic, or automated actuation to integrate with PLC or sensor-driven systems for instant airflow control.
Sealing & Maintenance: Valves are designed with precision-fit components and replaceable seals to maintain efficiency and reduce downtime during maintenance intervals.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Sonic butterfly valves can operate in conjunction with a VFD for blower speed control; however, they can also function as the sole airflow control device. As a low-cost alternative to a VFD, the butterfly valve allows operators to manually fine-tune air velocity and pressure, setting the optimum airflow level during the initial system setup without relying on expensive electronic controls.
The Sonic Y-Verter™ is a mechanical alternative to Variable Frequency Drive motor controllers traditionally used in blower and air knife systems. It allows rapid, reliable airflow redirection between system branches without changing motor speed, reducing complexity and maintenance requirements compared to VFD-based systems.
A Y-Verter™ is particularly effective when using standard 3,600 RPM, 60 Hz motors where air control needs can be met through mechanical redirection rather than motor speed modulation. While certain high-speed blower motors (up to 20,000 RPM) may require VFDs with output frequencies up to 330 Hz, many air knife applications can achieve equal or better airflow management with the simpler, more durable Y-Verter™ system.
Yes. They can be integrated with most industrial blowers or pneumatic systems, and custom configurations are available for unique operating conditions.
